Galfar al Misnad HSE division organized various interactive session online and onsite revolving around safety and health at work during a time where the phenomenon of changing climate is taking centerstage at many of the global political and economic forums.

The event started with opening remarks by John Henry, the corporate HSE manager, who emphasised the urgent need to address climate change issues as they affect occupational health and safety in the construction industry. The Keynote speaker for the online session Mr. Roque Peter Dcunha a Global HSE leader stressed on the data that impacts climate change on workers' safety and health. Mr. Roque covered various interlinked subjects focusing on climate change causes and imparted some takeaway points including increased Ambient Temperature, Air Pollution, extreme Weather and Hazards caused by Industrial Transitions.

Mr. Jayamohan Galfar’s General Manager stressed the impact of Ozone depletion, which leads to increased ultraviolet radiation. The General Manager illuminated the audience that Galfarians should be extremely happy and proud that the organization could work on the CO2 capture project that reduces carbon footprints.

The session concluded by a vote of thanks from Head- QHSE- Mr. Navneetha Shetty. Mr. Shetty reminded the participants climate change phenomenon is completely a collaborative effort that needs to be addressed by every human so that the future generations live healthier and can breathe in a fine fettle on our lovely planet, the only home “The green earth”.

Onsite sessions focused on preventive measures and occupational risks related to climate change. The HSE team and the project team briefed our beloved workforce about adapting current global standards, modifying and improving risk controls and acclimatisation procedures. Climate change Risk management, risk communication, development of early warning systems and surveillance were also deliberated. Emphasis on prevention through design was highlighted to all the participants. The commemoration concluded with a pledge to keep the workforce and the planet healthy and safe from the effects of climate change.

On April 7, 2024, Galfar Al Misnad Engineering & Contracting showed commitment to health as a fundamental human right. In a company-wide observance of World Health Day, under the global theme "My Health, My Right," Galfar showcased its dedication to the well-being of its employees through expansive awareness campaigns reaching across all project sites and facilities. 

In an impressive demonstration of engagement, 4,856 employees participated in offline events designed to reinforce health awareness at the grassroots level. In tandem, a select gathering of 122 employees joined an online forum featuring a keynote speech by the esteemed Dr. Aliya Fatima Hyderi, whose expertise explained the many facets of health as an intrinsic life priority. 

The virtual event unfolded with Galfar's HSE Manager, John Henry, setting an empowering tone in his opening remarks. The stage was then handed to Dr. Al Ameen Ashraf, Galfar's Senior Medical Officer, who introduced Dr. Fatima to the audience. Dr. Fatima's eloquence and insight highlighted the critical need for health awareness in the modern work environment. 

The Q&A segment addressed questions ranging from blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes to nutrition and lifestyle adjustments. It proved to be a dynamic exchange, demonstrating the event's success in encouraging an open dialogue on health concerns. 

The day's proceedings were drawn to a close with Navaneetha Shetty, Head of the QHSE department at Galfar, presenting Dr. Fatima with a certificate of appreciation. This gesture recognized her invaluable contribution to the event and symbolized Galfar's main initiative to engrain the value of health in the company ethos. 

Galfar Al Misnad's World Health Day event is more than a singular commemoration; it's a reaffirmation of the company's unyielding pledge to treat employees' health as a non-negotiable right, aligning with global movements to bring health equity to the forefront of corporate responsibility.

Galfar Toastmasters Club conducted a unique Meeting to honor veteran Galfar Toastmasters on the 28th of May 2024. These veteran Galfar toastmasters contributed to the overall success of the club for the last fifteen years. Due to their consistent effort GTM became the best corporate club in the country. During this decade TM John Henry won divisional International speech contest multiple times.

To commemorate this occasion the GTM fraternity was thrilled to have the presence of   the esteemed past International President of Toastmasters International, DTM Lark Doley as the keynote speaker. DTM delivered a captivating speech on the century-long history of Toastmasters International, which is lucidly phenomenal.

In a gesture of gratitude, our beloved Executive Director, Mr. Satish G Pillai, presented a poster created by TM Ravindran C to DTM Lark Doley. ED underlined his vision to originate the formation of the club with the intent to benefit employees and the organization. The session culminated with a Vote of Thanks by our VP Education, TM Faisudheen Kannoth. In attendance at the conclave were dignitaries, including Founder Member and Dy. GM (V&E) TM Anwar Sadath, Divisional Manager TM Aparna, Area 3 Director TM Poonam and GTM President Subramanya Hebbagelu.

Galfar has been recognized with three international safety awards along with the "Best in Country" title from the British Safety Council for the year 2023.

This the ninth time Galfar has received this international safety award while the Al Wajba Project has been honored for the third consecutive year. The Flowline Project has received recognition for the first time with a Distinction and esteemed Best in Country title.
